Battlefield, Missouri

Battlefield is a city in Greene County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 5,590.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=DEC_10_PL_GCTPL2.ST13&prodType=table )〕 It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has no post office and shares the ZIP code (65619) with Brookline.
==History==
Battlefield is named for its proximity to the 1861 Battle of Wilson's Creek, one of the first large battles of the American Civil War. Several Battlefield streets, parks, and other landmarks are named for events and people related to the battle - such as Nathaniel Lyon Street, one of the town's main thoroughfares, named for Union General Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general to die in the civil war.
On May 4, 2003, portions of the city were destroyed by a severe tornado. It was part of the May 2003 tornado outbreak sequence, which killed one and left dozens homeless.
